Polar Bears Keep "Threatened" Status

A federal judge on Thursday upheld a 2008 decision to protect polar bears throughout their range as a “threatened” species under the U.S. Endangered Species Act. The listing was the result of a 2005 petition and litigation filed by the Center for Biological Diversity, Natural Resources Defense Council and Greenpeace.

I have been a fan of the Kaufman Guides since I bought the Field Guide to Butterflies of North America , for a birds and butterflies trip to Colorado.

Owls of the Eastern Ice: A Quest to Find and Save the World’s Largest Owl–A Book Review

This book is the story of his search for his grail and what he does with it and why, a quest that took place from 2005 to 2010 in the Russian province of Primorye. How when he needed a dissertation topic in 2005 (studying at the University of Minnesota), it was either Hooded Crane or Blakiston’s Fish Owl, both iconic birds of the area.
