In June 2006, Jane and I visited a chimpanzee sanctuary near Girona, Spain. He never chased the rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, or deer who regularly visited. I wondered what in the world he’d brought back and discovered the wet ball of fur was a very young bunny. He often tried to approach them as if they were friends.
