In 2009 they laid two clutches of two eggs, but they were all predated. Here are some of the experiences of the Pied Oystercatcher chick on Cable Beach in the last 4 weeks. No eggs were laid in 2007, but in 2008 they laid their first two eggs and after three days they did not seem at all interested in sitting on them.

Perhaps just once in a decade, the UK experiences an invasion of Painted Ladies , Vanessa ( Cynthia) cardui. It was reported that more than 28 million crossed the south coast of the UK over one weekend in May 2009. Painted Ladies are part of the Aristocrat group of butterflies. as I have some from the family in my garden.

The world record 734 Long-eared Owls were counted here in December 2009, in the pines and spruces, lime, chestnut and nettle trees lining the central square by the orthodox church in Kikinda. Actually, the numbers are even higher. The best decorated single tree had 145 owls in its crown. Still, irresistibly adorable, nevertheless.
