If you’re going to adopt a shelter dog, it’s important that you do your homework beforehand, so you choose the right dog for your family. Do you have time to toilet train a puppy, and feed it several times a day? There really is no hurry, and it’s important that everyone is happy with the dog you adopt.

It was so fun to read about the adventures of a rescued fawn who was “adopted&# by a group of very special people. Of course reading about the “puppy express&# (based on the Pony Express), was a great testimonial to just how many kind hearted people there are in the world.

In 2010, 391 bloggers wrote about the program and with each post, Pedigree donated 20 pounds of its Healthy Longevity dog food to shelter animals. The Pedigree Foundation — a 501 (C)(3) nonprofit organization is committed to helping dogs by providing grants to shelters and rescues and encouraging dog adoption.

Early Adopter. The Shift: Instead of buying your new friend from a pet store or breeder, adopt one from a shelter. Save the Planet: Adopting a shelter pet not only saves a life, but it reduces demand for purebred animals, which are more likely to have medical problems due to genetic abnormalities.

On May 5, 2010, I adopted a two-year-old poodle/terrier mix from our local shelter, Animal Allies. I rarely go out late at night, as Angel will also go potty on a puppy pad in addition to going outside. My name is Jan. I named her Angel. I fell in love with her immediately. I want to share a small miracle. At 1:30 a.m.

When I agreed to read and review Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson's THE DOG WHO COULDN'T STOP LOVING (Harper 2010), the regal Charles Hobson Booger, III was still with us. He was adopted by the Masson family and was apparently the most loving dog all who met him had ever had the pleasure of being licked by. And the crying would never stop.

Right before Christmas on December 23rd, orphan dogs and cats available for adoption visited the New York Stock Exchange to ring the closing bell and raise awareness for pet adoption! Also joining the group was the Iams Home 4 the Holidays Adoption Angel Jack with his adopted dog Jane (Jack adopted Jane from Bideawee in October).
