During WWII, the forest was used as a base of the local Partisan squad (the communist resistance), hiding in subterranean shelters. Some of those shelters are still around. We entered an area that was clear-cut in 2010. Fleeing from Nazis, local villagers were hiding there as well. And into the forest we go.
