The following year, 2014, I elected to join a different group birding the lowland seasonal forest at the opposite end of the CBC radius from where I had that wonderful experience the year before. Visitors to T&T may be familiar with the area – the famed Aripo Livestock Station. Trinidad Lancehead , or Fer-de-lance.
The following maps I created on eBird show the dramatic growth in the spread of the Eurasian Collared-Dove from 2002 to 2014. They feed from grain storage and spillage areas, livestock yards, and bird feeders. The northwestern spread of this non-native species made it to my yard a few years ago.
