Proposition 2 has been passed in California. As of 11 PM PST, Prop 2 was leading 62% to 38%. on Prop 2 campaign. Proposition 2 ends the practice of confining certain animals raised for food in crates and cages so small the animals can barely move. Tags: proposition 2.

The surprise truce in Ohio follows stronger limits imposed by California voters in 2008; there, extreme caging methods will be banned altogether by 2015. But to big ag, it's just another step on a slippery slope started by the passage of Proposition 2. I actually read one headline asking whether this was the beginning of the end of commercial farming in California. A bit of an overreaction I think. The article is so short, I'm just posting the whole thing.
