The economic “impact” of a birding festival can be estimated by looking at expenditures of attendees ( e.g., hotel rooms, meals, souvenirs, transportation costs, etc.). We then worked with eBird personnel (Steve Kelling and others) to analyze the data while protecting confidential information.
