Best Bird of the Weekend (Second of December 2018)

Some may feel that 2018 is inching towards its close. A rather lackluster Sunday morning’s birding didn’t result in any major highlights for Corey, a bummer considering he was scouting for next weekend’s Christmas Bird Count, but he did manage to spot a sextet of high-flying Common Mergansers at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge.

This cooperative bird was found on Saturday in one of the openings in the ice at the south end of the East Pond at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge and Corey went and saw it on Sunday. How about you?
