I write this on the final day of the year, the last bit of 2019. If birders still fancied adding that Purple Finch, Ivory Gull, or Three-wattled Bellbird in 2019, December 31st would have been their final chance. These experiences, guiding, and other aspects of birding were gifts, I look forward to 2020.

Being in a boat, digiscoping a Shoebill in the rain, was one of the best birding experiences I’ve ever had, comparable only to feeding Maria. Here’s hoping that 2020 is even close to as good a birding year as 2019 has been. The post My Ten Best Birds of 2019 appeared first on 10,000 Birds. Happy New Year!

That is the state of our 2020 year lists and general birding experience. Some of us have already enjoyed some New Year’s day bio-blitzing, but the first weekend of the year offers so much potential to become reacquainted with the species you haven’t seen since 2019. Embrace it… the opportunity, not the birds!
