At the moment we are witnessing the peak southward migration of Booted (Hieraaetus pennatus) and Short-toed Snake (Circaetus gallicus) Eagles over the Strait of Gibraltar. These are the two main species, with over 30 thousand of the former and around 20 thousand of the latter crossing in a matter of a few weeks.

On a winter’s day, a Pileated Woodpecker chops away at a fallen log. Its audience consists of a Hairy Woodpecker and a Downy Woodpecker. Once it leaves, the Hairy moves to the broken log and chops some more. After it leaves, the Downy has its chance to find something edible in the leavings. My husband commented that we’d just watched small, medium, and large.

PETA is based out of Virginia, and they have to report the number of animals they receive each year to the Virgina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Their report is public information and is free to view every year. PETA 2023 Animal Data In 2023, they reported receiving 3,294 animals in their custody (excluding wildlife). Out of the total amount of animals received, they euthanized 2,559 animals.

Not literally frozen. But I was driving with my dad and saw the bird stuck in the road, so we stopped to pick it up. And it didn’t make any movements besides flying out of our hands and stopped a few feet away. The mouth was open the whole time. We brought it over to our house where we could give it some water, and then let it just sit there. However there’s a bunch of wasps nearby and we can’t move it.

Dumb question, but i have to ask it. There was a show back in the late to mid 2000s, that basically put animals against each other, in some cases dissecting animals, making mock props of them.and long story short I could have sworn I heard them say lions and Tigers are basically pallete swaps of the same animal, from a physical standpoint. First, how true is that statement do you think?

Yellow jacket wasp and hornet species mainly because the thought that they can fly fast, are always buzzing around your picnic area, they can become aggressive when you raid their nest not to mention they do have photographic memory and unlike an bee, could sting you over and over since their stingers are smooth and pointed upwards which enables them to not lose their stinger right away For tarantulas and scorpions (who I’m not afraid of) at least you can walk away and at least spot them in time
