Long before that time Mexican domesticated Turkeys had been adopted by Native Americans in the American Southwest as well. For this to be true, there must have been Turkeys brought over on the Mayflower, and for it to be true in detail, Columbus must have been the guy who brought the Turkey back to the Old World.
