Start with easier pets – Many people don’t want to start with the responsibility of a dog or cat. Pick a pet that fits your family’s lifestyle – Look at the purpose the pet will serve in your family. I strongly encourage people to adopt pound and shelter animals. Choose pets that are easy to care for.

And I received confirmation of something I've known since 2004, when we adopted retired racing greyhound, Violet Rays: That there's sort of a critical period for dog-behavior acquisition, and if it's missed, the dog isn't likely to mature into the type of loving being whose behavior we've come to associate with "pet" dogs. And he details why.

In spite of this New Zealand does have an iconic family of birds that has served as an emblem for the country for over a century, the kiwi. Hes only been birding since 2005 but has garnered a respectable life list by birding whenever he wasnt working as a union representative or spending time with his family.
