Rock & Rawhide , a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that aims to increase adoptions for dogs and cats in shelters by providing toys and other items that serve as a form of distraction therapy, reducing the stress and noise levels. Research has shown that if noise and stress are reduced, adoptions go up!

It was the first time I really wouldn’t see my pups on a regular basis or even be able to adopt one (or a few) of my own. Shelter work is always a great combination of heartwarming stories, hilarious animal antics and a great vibe of fun people all around. She was shortly adopted afterwards into a loving family.

Many dogs are rescued out of abusive or traumatic situations, causing them to exhibit a wide variety of emotional and behavioral problems. However, that doesn’t mean they can’t make great companions for the right adoptive family. Juliet and Foxy, a Terrier mix and a Chow Chow/Cocker Spaniel mix, are my rescues.

At an NYC puppy shelter a few weeks ago, my mind was just about made up when I met Chester – The cutest Lab puppy I’d ever seen. After talking to the owner of the shelter however, I learned there was more to adopting little Chester, or any pet for that matter, than my love at first bark. Don’t let the dog eat your homework.
