For kittens and puppies, most any time is play time. Older pets still need love and attention, but they don’t require babysitting like a frisky puppy or curious kitten. Friskies will donate the cans used to build the Friskies Plus Catstruction to three Los Angeles based cat rescue organizations; The Lange Foundation , Kitt Crusaders and Kitten Rescue each will receive thousands of cans of Friskies Plus. Combined, these organizations help 2,400 cats each year.

My second favorite rescue story is that of Hunter, a beagle-ish dog that my daughter and son-in-law adopted from a shelter in Massachusetts. Be the person your dog thinks you are.

Cy, more commonly referred to at our house simply as ‘The Boy,’ has loved sinks, tubs and showers since he was a kitten and that is only one of the many unique qualities that I love about him. In case you can’t already tell, I absolutely adore The Boy.

As for Project Treadstone, there have been three fatalities-by-automobile and one litter of three kittens, two of whom were caught and adopted fairly early. And he already had two inches of his backbone removed so all that's left is scar tissue unless I'm missing something. My poor boy. Wish him luck!

Right before Christmas on December 23rd, orphan dogs and cats available for adoption visited the New York Stock Exchange to ring the closing bell and raise awareness for pet adoption! Also joining the group was the Iams Home 4 the Holidays Adoption Angel Jack with his adopted dog Jane (Jack adopted Jane from Bideawee in October).

So when we adopted a human baby we knew we'd have to teach that human to avoid Violet. We weren't planning to adopt another. When we adopted them we made a commitment to care for them for the rest of their lives. This time of year, I worry about animals who are bought or adopted as gifts. Violet's a member of our family.
