This past Sunday was a hot sunny day in New York and the family and I took full advantage of it, exploring Rockefeller State Park Preserve, a pretty park in Westchester County, not too far north of the Bronx. No, I have no such diabolical agendas! Pure coincidence! We enjoyed butterflies, dragonflies, and sticks.

I will start by telling you about encounters in Turkey with two special bird families. I really should have encountered these families in Mexico, as they both occur here. This visit to southern Spain, however, fell in the middle of raptor migration, so flamingos were not on my agenda. My only problem is, where to start?

The birds weren’t high on the agenda while we were in Wyoming but I still managed to see some. I didn’t have much light to work with but a male Western Tanager can’t be ignored.
