We traveled along Alligator Alley. This is a great spot for alligators, which we saw that day. A Palm Warbler , in breeding plumage, hopped onto the end of our table. A Red-shouldered Hawk was crying as it hunted. There are always lots of birds to see on the way, especially waders. We decided to stop at H.

boat trip, and despite the heat of the day quickly ticked off Tricolored Herons , White Ibises, Little Blue Herons, and even Yellow-crowed Night Herons hunting in the reeds or resting at the base of towering cypress trees. I see grebes and gallinules all the time, but one can never tire when watching successful breeding birds.
