I’m Back from Space Coast

Though, considering how many good birds I saw at the Space Coast Birding and Wildlife Festival , you could say that I just left dream-land behind for the cold and snow-covered northeast. I saw or heard a total 0f 147 species in my six days in Florida, including two lifers and one new bird for the ABA-area. Clearly the answer is yes.

The Outer Banks after a Tropical Storm

Turns out, Monday brought more than a little rain, and we got soaked as we explored the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge and the Currituck National Wildlife Refuge along the ocean. They formed their little clumps along the water, all the species mixed together until a walker approached too closely.
