As a recent convert to vegetarianism, I found that it reinforced my feeling that the eating of living, thinking, emotional creatures is just plain wrong. If people had to see what these animals are subjected to or take an active role in their deaths, I believe many more people would think before they eat. To the Editor: Nicholas D.

Becoming a vegetarian is not merely a symbolic gesture. KBJ: Singer’s claim is that one should not contribute, even incrementally, to animal suffering.
