Freeman says that the most difficult thing he has encountered so far in his research comes not from the lab, but from people’s attitudes about animal testing. Interesting that animal research is not cruel or inhumane because it benefits US. Does it benefit the animals? Diet (eat less!), exercise (walk more!)

They have paying members that are part of the animal research industry itself. Cleverly, they also emphasize how many "animals" are saved by animal research. Wouldn't Fluffy die without all the benefits of animal testing? Here's the organization's defense of its primate veterinarian members.

I don't support animal research and I have no sympathy for animal researchers. I don't believe they want an honest dialogue about what they are doing to animals. I don't believe they are "brave" for "standing up" to animal rights activists. I would never advocate violence against a researcher.

Animals for research purposes are coming from municipal shelters, breeders and the greyhound trade. In 2007, 394 dogs died during procedures for canine and human research. I'm updating this rant from a few years ago regarding why I question animal testing. I get frustrated when people accept a scientist's opinion in support of animal testing simply because that person is a scientist. Do they work for a drug company that tests on animals? to be continued).
