Nocera tells us that most slaughterhouses don’t mistreat animals or funnel sick downer cows into the food chain. He would have saved us the necessity of sending an undercover investigator to film the shocking mistreatment of animals. Oh, really? He might have prevented the recall of 143 million pounds of beef.
