Wallaby seeks shelter beside an excavator. Our first delay was one of the many iron ore trains that transport the ore to the coast from inland. The Poo Ponds were very productive and the wildlife was making the most of the water available and the shade provided by the excavating equipment. Waiting for a long train!

Winter in Albert Park, Melbourne

It remains a good location for observing birds close to the city and easily accessible by public transport. The distance around the lake is approximately five kilometres and there are limited places to shelter if a storm approaches fast. Some of the sheltered areas were being used by the Chestnut Teal as a roost.
