No wonder folks are hoarding water and batteries! If you’ve blogged about your weekend experience, you should include a link in your comment. I don’t know how things are in your part of the world, but in my geographic proximity, people are freaking out. They seems pretty pleased to be on the property themselves! How about you?
Blogging is a peculiar activity. But something must happen otherwise, God forbid, there will be nothing to blog about. In the moderate warmth of a Miami morning, he was able to sustain his fan under light cloud for longer than my camera battery could last.
But, as I detailed last week , that drive to the Pacific Coast was a rather spectacular failure, because of a highly unseasonal rain, and my failure to recharge my camera battery. But this time, it would be in the afternoon, with strong winds and brilliant sunshine… and a full camera battery. And where was the nearest beach?
Have you read my blogs on birding Greece ? Head for the sea only when you fully recharge your batteries. Presuming that you live somewhere in Europe and plan a car trip to Greece, let me suggest a couple of routes that will increase your tour list. That motorway takes you to the Gevgelija (MAK) – Evzonoi (GR) border crossing.
I could not wait to get the batteries in and start taking photos. You can read all about what they have been able to do on their blog, Four Corners Dark. It arrives inside a round tin with a photo of a cat face on it. Once you pop the top open, you then see the camera, which follows the cat theme with it’s fun wink and lens eye.
Besides founding 10,000 Birds and I and the Bird , Mike has also created a number of other entertaining sites and resources, particularly the Nature Blog Network. Thank you for your continued informational blog. Where do you charge your batteries in Namibia’s Kaokoveld during a longer trip away from lodges and hotels?
1PM – Clare: Cameras with AA Batteries are the Best. We are more refined, merely enjoying invasive species, thinking extinct birds are gone and you should get over it, and that those who like to watch gulls probably have a screw or two loose. You can see our full week’s worth of scheduled offerings below: SUNDAY.
Having read your blogs I thought you might like to hear about Compassion in World Farming’s Bake with Compassion fundraising week. By encouraging people to bake with higher welfare eggs (as well as organic milk, butter and chocolate) vital funds will be raised to campaign against battery cages.
If you have to leave your pet in the car for a few minutes, Pets on the Go suggests parking in the shade and using a small, battery-operated fan to keep the car cool. Visit here twice monthly to read helpful tips on caring for your pets and check out her blog. Kelly and I wish you safe and happy travels!
1PM – Clare: Cameras with AA Batteries are the Best. If you managed to miss anything during our week of belligerence and strong opinions here’s your chance to go back and click on some wonderful posts! 7AM – Intro Post. 7AM – Corey: Snowy Owls are Superior in Every Way to Great Gray Owls.
When I started blogging in May of 2006 I was very snarky. Snark defined blogging back then. Researchers conducted experiments in a lab, then released the animals into the wild, making sure to note that "This was a much harder part of the study, and involved lugging around of batteries," and found similar results.
The animal advocacy group Compassion Over Killing has created a new website to bring attention to the fact that Morningstar Farms continues to use "battery eggs" from caged birds in their products. I'll probably blog about it on my personal site in the near future to help you get the word out. Here is the link. Good stuff.
One nice little story for my blog post lost. Other useful information in the Wikipedia article includes the factoid that it shows very rapid ingestion rates, taking on average 6 seconds for the prey to reach the stomach after capture (motto of this blog: We read Wikipedia for you so you do not have to).
