The bird life of Kruger National Park appears to be distilled into a small area surrounding the hide and they seem oblivious to the observers with their battery of lenses poking out from the wooden building. Head for the sea only when you fully recharge your batteries. In the case of Ionian Sea and the Prespa Lakes National Park, I would recommend two full days / three nights, and in the case of Aegean and the Kerkini Lake National Park, my recommendation goes towards three days / four nights.

These stone-sucking fish can often grow large enough to be immune to cormorants, indeed I thought that this one could have been quietly confident that predators would probably overlook him in favour of a more digestible meal. For over 15 minutes the first bird battled with its fish whilst trying to keep the others at wing’s length.
