They have written a paper on the “Feasibility of counting breeding Pied Avocets and Black-winged Stilts using drones” It seems to work, actually – though about 20 percent of breeding pairs are being missed by drone surveys.

How to find the Ural Owl in Serbia

The usual way to find an owl would be to listen to its territorial call in the breeding season (to listen and not to lure it – I oppose the playback ), but this species is even less vocal than most other owls. Egg-laying starts in late March to early April and they remain in the vicinity till early June.

Birding Cape Henlopen State Park, Delaware

Having never birded Cape Henlopen State Park before I was kind of unsure as to the best place to go, so after entering the park on Sunday morning I pulled over to get my bearings and to figure out what route through the park I should take.
