Alice Berkner , a registered nurse, came up with the concept of International Bird Rescue while trying to help the more than 7,000 birds that filled warehouses around the San Francisco Bay Area during this 1971 oil spill. Michelle is not only a gracious host but a very knowledgeable and dedicated member of the staff.
