Sukau birding essentially means staying in a more-or-less comfortable lodge on the banks of the Kinatabagan river, and taking boat tours on more-or-less rickety boats on the river. So, just photos of the birds themselves. Why that makes Mr. Graydon worthy of having a bird species named after him is a mystery to me.

Alabama Man Pleads Guilty to Killing Protected Birds

Alexander Alvarez of Atmore, Alabama, has pled guilty to “killing migratory birds and selling the feathers on the black market” in a killing spree that dates back to 2006. It’s nice to see laws against killing birds and selling their feathers enforced.

A close encounter with a Wedge-tailed Eagle

On Wednesday this week we had a very close encounter with a Wedge-tailed Eagle on the edge of the road. The Blue-tongued Lizard that was also having the same experience was definitely not as excited and was trying its hardest to protect itself. The close encounter on Wednesday was lucky for us and the Blue-tongued Lizard.

Wind Farm Company Pleads Guilty to Bird Fatalities

The case involved the deaths of more than 150 birds, including 14 eagles, at two plants in Wyoming between 2009 and 2013.
