They also remind me why I love birding in Michoacán. The Trogon family (and order, since the order only includes one family) is quite widespread, being found in all the tropical (and some subtropical) regions of the world. Both are large, stocky birds, with a large head and long, squared-off tail. Those are good numbers.

You can’t really talk about pink birds without talking about pink finches. For some reason the Fringillidae, as the finch family is called if you want to be highfalutin, frequently tend toward pink. Too the contrary, I love spotting a pink finch, and the more out of place I am or the bird is the happier I am about it!
