Highway 12, as it takes you from Montana into Idaho, has been the road to some of my greatest adventures during my time here. Then, I spotted a slender head rising from a big bird’s body. And Road # 373, the gravel trail that leads away from the visitor’s center and into the woods, is even wilder and more scenic.
