In the grand scheme of things, this is just a small town and only one person was killed due to injuries suffered. I rushed down to aid with what I could give, taking several spare bird books, DVD’s, bird T-shirts and Birdman Productions hats along with 2 pairs of my “extra” binoculars. Chaos and insulation.

The title of this book I found in the library at the Point Reyes hostel was just a little too accurate a description of our vacation thus far. As we’d just eaten our breakfast with the blackbirds, Katherine and I had some time to kill before our next meal.

Well, as it turns out neither a trip to a slaughterhouse nor killing an animal yourself is powerful enough to make people go vegan. Much of the book deals with topics vegans have likely pondered, likely frequently. He watched cockfighting and killed and skinned animals, but won’t eat veal. But I’m merely making his point.

In setting out to write this paper, my intention was to fill a gap in my book Animal Liberation. Instead the argument for vegetarianism is based on the suffering that is, and as far as I can see always will be, associated with the rearing and slaughtering of animals on a large scale to feed urban populations.

your personal life starts to suffer as a result of taking on the animals suffering. you stop having fun because you feel guilty when there are so many animals currently suffering. One day about 10 years ago, I was in the process of transporting quite a few dogs to a rescue from a high kill shelter.
