In the case of the acuri, the birds usually eat those kernels that have already fallen to the ground or that have been ruminated by cattle or wild animals, but they eat bocaiuva nuts straight off the bunches hanging from the trees. Although 99% is privately owned, the Pantanal (swamp in Spanish) was my favorite place in Brazil. Although there are no endemic birds in this area of Brazil, there are soooo many birds (650 residents) and lots of them are restricted range birds. It is an eye opener which every birder must see before it its gone.
