In this part (sorry Corey) all those tundran breeders seem to have followed the path most flown. The concrete ramp collects seaweed as the tide pushes back and forth. This individual was seen from the ferry jetty on the estuary of the River Thames in the UK. The seaweed, in its turn attracts insects and thus birds.

Anna’s, Rufous and Calliope: Hummingbirds of the West

She is the latest of our local breeders, not nesting usually until mid-May. The female is the earliest breeder of all these species, arriving on breeding grounds shortly after the males in November. Here you can see the female collecting nesting material. She will begin breeding in April.

But I am sure I have seen my last examples of these species until the fall; especially since a total lockdown was just decreed for my state of Michoacán. They will return to me soon enough.

He did know all the little roads in the area and as he wasn’t a trapper but a breeder we asked him to show us the way. We were introduced to a local specialist, but this gentleman turned out to be interested in caged birds.
