This laughingthrush is a cooperative breeder – nestlings are fed by all members of a group, often 6-12 (not just 2 as in Wham!): “A female may share a nest with another, and 3 or more adults may take turns incubating the eggs and feeding the chicks.” (Note to those readers who do not know Wham!: ” ( source ).

Birding Tan Phu Forest, Vietnam (Part 1)

To be fair, this post will not focus on them – there will be a separate post on pittas of Southern Vietnam and another on kingfishers. The species is a cooperative breeder – birds other than the parents help feed the chicks. My way of squeezing more blog posts out of my birding trips. Here are a few photos from the area.

Black-faced Spoonbill

Many of these potential breeders though will not nest. Other main wintering sites include Macau, Vietnam and Hong Kong. Young Black-faced Spoonbills have only a small amount of black facial skin, light colouring on their bills and show black at the tips of their primaries. Perhaps they also have trouble telling who’s which.
