Regardless of what may have been my motivation, all eagles are exceptionally amazing birds that will scarcely ever fail to impress lucky birders. So here they are, the German eagles… Osprey. White-tailed Eagle. They were protecting the last three pairs that were left in West Germany from egg thieves! Go Eagles!!

The Belgrade Amazon Campaign or the House of the Eagle

Despite mostly guiding them, I still somehow managed to see a European Badger sitting and watching me back for several seconds, before it slipped into bushes and quite a few White-tailed Eagles , e.g. four in just one morning. And how about Black Storks, otters and eagles? Then, there were Eurasian Otters , which I’ve seen twice.

Upside-down January

I observed White-tailed Eagles likely a few thousand times, and this didn’t strike me as the dark young bird. The next option would be a very dark adult Greater Spotted Eagle … but I wasn’t ready! My scope was still in my rucksack, and by the time I pulled it out, the spook was nowhere to be seen.

Pied Oystercatchers breeding in Roebuck Bay

This large flock is generally the non-breeding birds and on one occasion we have observed a nest there, but we do not know the outcome of it. In recent years there have been Pied Oystercatchers attempting to breed along the shores of Roebuck Bay. Many of the migratory shorebirds still have some of their breeding plumage.

Pied Oystercatchers breeding in Broome

This year we have continued to monitor the breeding of several pairs of Pied Oystercatchers along the coast in Broome from Gantheaume Point to Willie Creek on the south side. The first eggs were laid in the first week of July, which is the case each year.
