Good birds all but rather typical for the Coast Guard Station this time of year so we decided to walk over the nature center to see if we could find the Snowy Owl that has been hanging out there for months and see if we could find John his life Lapland Longspurs.

When he reached out to ask if he could contribute a piece to 10,000 Birds about about the ethics around the current Snowy Owl irruption in the central and eastern United States we were all for it! “In In support of the Snowys I will not be liking any more Snowy Owl photos.”. Snowy Owls have value. Species have value.

Hazel Grouse are not easy to see despite not moving around much in their lifetime – according to the HBW, “in Russia, 88% of recoveries within 500 m of ringing site” For most people, the main reason to come to Inner Mongolia in winter is to see owls. Notice how they never sit together on buses?
