This, now, is a very practical matter, where all measures we take must be tested empirically on their consequences. I do disagree with some of what follows, though, and agree with some as well (my comments are in italics): The animal rights movement must adapt their political campaigning strategies to these psychological facts.

There are no tests to diagnose it, either. Among its manufacturers are Reckitt-Benckiser, which will no doubt begin a vigorous bromethalin campaign to make up for the 12 types of D-Con snatched from its homeowner market. Consumer education is the only remedy. Read that again: it has no antidote. Do we all feel better?

His underlying point should be well taken by all of us: Birders and bird-educators could have an impact on the future of the Refuge System.
