The Humane Society began a campaign in March 2008 to get 600 university presidents to sign a pledge to prevent severe pain and distress in animals used in research. HSUS is now attempting to reach students through Facebook. So far only 37 presidents have signed it.
I got curious today and googled "Jennifer Fearing," the woman who led the Yes on Proposition 2 campaign. Pretty impressive bio (please note that the bio is from her time at HSUS). It turns out that she was the former Humane Society Chief Economist. She used to head United Animal Nations too.
