In order to offset the loss of the seal product market in Europe, Canada has made a deal with China. Although 40 Chinese animal rights groups have protested, they don't really have any political or financial clout to change anything. I'm not surprised. China as a whole still doesn't have a national conscience about these issues.

Both groups will be protesting the seal hunt using the Olympic torch ceremony as the backdrop. Crowds gathering across Canada to watch the Olympic torch pass through their towns will also be greeted by a 12-meter-tall baby "seal."

Wanting to celebrate the owl that has brought birders from many European countries, even from USA, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong and China to their town, the authorities have erected the One Owl, a 9 ft terra-cotta statue of an owl by a local sculptor Jovan Blat. Many social network protesters found it obscene.

This after a PETA activist hit Canada Fisheries Minister Gail Shae with a pie. In other news, PETA received more publicity for their anti seal hunting campaign when one of their protesters was hit in the face with a pie. That's good, because I really hate Canada's odious seal hunt.
