The traditional, supposedly humane answer to the glut of feral cats has been institution of “TNR” programs – trap, neuter, return. In any event, “Cat Wars” is valuable in that it calls to attention a huge problem (set of problems, really) of which many people have, hitherto, been unaware — or ignored.

On 14 March, 2013, the Orlando Sentinel published an opinion piece by Ted Williams under the headline “Trap, neuter, return programs make feral-cat problem worse.” Before the recent events you had to really dig around on the National Audubon Society’s website before you finally got to this page on cats.

The other day, Minneapolis, Minnesota passed a feral cat ordinance. So I put together a “carnival” (of sorts) of Feral Cat Ordinances and Issues that samples current events across the US. From the Star Tribune : Feral cats win a round at Minneapolis City Hall. Those who violate the ordinance can be fined $200.
