As long as they had no drugs in their system, and as long as they weren’t touched by a cat (and thus contaminated with salmonella/pasteurella/Bartonella, etc.) He then ate a screech owl, a robin, two squirrels, a mourning dove, three chipmunks, and a rabbit. My mammal-rehabber friends give me their unfortunates, as well.

We heard, but didn’t see, a Brown Wood-ow l, and best of all a massive cat-sized Red Giant Flying Squirrel and a rabbit-sized Sunda Stink-badger. This Cream-coloured Giant Squirrel was one of the highlights of Sepilok’s Rainforest Discovery Centre. It is hard to tell, but it is massive!

You typically do not find a bird this naked or featherless outside of the nest unless there has been a storm or the nest has been attacked by predator like a raccoon, chipmunk, squirrel or corvids. They don’t build nests and some like Great Horned Owls take over old hawk or squirrel nests. That is probably one of the adults.

Safflower is not the favorite food of house sparrows, red-winged blackbirds and squirrels. She wrote the books Disapproving Rabbits and City Birds/Country Birds. I also use the weight sensitive “squirrel proof feeders to keep them out of my sunflower seed. Wicked, right? Hat-tip to Stella.
