The star of such huge concentrations is the massive Jabiru , towering over a diverse collection of South American waterbirds such as Sunbittern , Plumbeous Ibis , and Southern Screamer.

There has been one for the last couple winters at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, but I don’t think anyone has gotten as close to it as I got to the one at the Queens Zoo. Even collecting one piece after another, I didn’t manage to see the whole picture, but after a lot of effort, I collected enough pieces to ID the Eastern Olivaceous Warbler , only the first of a dozen that will be chock chock chocking from fruiting mulberries. Someone should tell the police who is actually paying them.
