Whooping Crane at Joe Overstreet Road

One of the remaining birds is known to frequent Joe Overstreet Road, a dirt road that runs a few miles through sod farms and cattle pastures between Canoe Creek Road and Lake Kissimmee in Keenansville,about an hour south of Orlando.

Windjana Gorge in 2020

Having observed the Cattle Egret in breeding plumage at the Derby Poo Ponds on June 19th we found ourselves at Windjana Gorge first thing the following morning. A Wedge-tailed Eagle soared overhead alongside Black Kites and Whistling kites. We spent several hours at Windjana Gorge and there was a great variety in wildlife as always.

Definitively the Egyptians!

That was not all, a few days later, by one village rubbish dump, not far from Ahmedabad, we had more than 100 Egyptian Vultures (above); plus 20 more at the dead cattle dumping site at the outskirts of the city. Finally, when our SUV broke down in Gujarat, India, some three years ago, my first two Egyptians were flying above the road!

Week 16: South Africa and Kruger National Park

The house is a four bedroom, four bath two story, with a deck running around three sides of the upper story, great for wildlife viewing. The mighty rhino along with the Cattle Egret. The African Fish Eagle was a great first day bird. This will act as our base for the next 20 days.
