So early in the morning we left Picton and headed out along Queen Charlotte Sound, getting the general tour and occasionally stopping to look at whatever we found. Marlborough Sounds has a pretty special endemic, the King Shag , a species that isn’t just endemic to New Zealand but endemic to just the Sounds.

The capital is San Juan, an important center of Caribbean culture and transportation. The population is approximately 105,000 and the capital is Charlotte Amalie on St. The USVI are smaller and have fewer habitats and, as a result, fewer bird species. Many native birds are either endemics or widespread Caribbean species.
