You see, the chickens are being shortchanged. Americans love chicken. In 2008, over nine billion chickens were slaughtered for Americans to eat. Chicken soup and chicken wings are about as American as apple pie. When we eat eggs we eat chicken eggs almost exclusively.
It's just another excuse people have concocted because they like the taste of cow/pig/chicken/fish flesh. Why choose enslavement, rape, domination and slaughter? No one will propose a ban on eating chickens because there's no conflict there. All they do thereafter is replace cows with chickens and pigs and fish.
And of course, many self-identified vegetarians eat fishes and/or chickens. The unnecessary killing of a terrified animal who was likely fighting for his life, becomes he lined up to be slaughtered so you may dine on his flesh. Then there's the instructional video sent in by a viewer teaching us how to make chicken cutlets.
If you believe your dog has a right to a life free of torture and slaughter for no reason, then you really ought to think about extending that right to mice, rats, chickens and fish. All we do as vegans is take a reality--the reality of the sentience of cats, dogs, horses, chickens, sheep, cows, etc. He is letting his attachment to eating animals and his attachment to his constituents profiting from their slaughter cloud his decision making. What's all this about emotion, anyway?
