When I reached the levee earlier that morning, I met an elderly hunter from whom I learned that there was an ongoing duck and pheasant hunt, but no one was shooting from, nor towards the embankment, hence I should be safe there. Within its Belt and Road Initiative, China asked for this location for the new harbour.

Canada Reaches Seal Product Deal with China

In order to offset the loss of the seal product market in Europe, Canada has made a deal with China. China as a whole still doesn't have a national conscience about these issues. I'm not surprised. Although 40 Chinese animal rights groups have protested, they don't really have any political or financial clout to change anything.

Baby Mute Swans – “immutabilis” morph

Its natural range in Europe was restricted the the surroundings of the Baltic Sea and the Black Sea, and in Asia it ranged from Asia Minor to central China. Within its European range, it was heavily hunted until the late 19th century, and the Mute Swan was subsequently a very rare bird to encounter in the wild.

Sadly, the HBW states that the species is “almost extinct in some areas in China owing to hunting and trapping for the cagebird trade and taxidermy” The Maroon Oriole looks much more interesting, though my photos do not really do it full justice.
