A wildlife rehabilitator friend, newly licensed, recently called to ask if he could feed a recovering Turkey Vulture anything besides defrosted rodents. He then ate a screech owl, a robin, two squirrels, a mourning dove, three chipmunks, and a rabbit. Birds raptors turkey vulture wildlife rehabilitators' He ate my last quail.

A few weeks ago I led a field trip to Butte Valley Wildlife Area. It was a destination I had never experienced so I made a few phone calls and got some information from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife agent who actually runs both the Butte Valley and the Shasta Valley Wildlife Areas, which are about 25 miles apart.

She doesn’t use pesticides, she loves the local wildlife, and she does everything a good pet owner should do. This was followed by, “I have one who is a chipmunk murderer.”. All her pets are rescues. She keeps her cats inside. Unless she is accompanying her dog, he stays in a fenced-in area. She went on Facebook for consolation.
