Join Best Friends Animal Society for the annual No More Homeless Pets National Conference, October 23-25, 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Each year, five million healthy, adoptable homeless pets are still being put down. Three days of action oriented training, inspiration and, of course, fun with Best Friends.
Of course I have not been spending time in the southernmost part of New Jersey because, as a birder, I could never be lucky enough to have to work in Cape May. Because of my job I have, of late, been spending lots of time in southern New Jersey. No, I get to be in southwestern New Jersey, just across the river from Philadelphia.
One of those is vet bills, which of course aren't deductible, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't know the total. But then I wasn't able to put that theory into practice once weighed against, say, the millions of dogs and cats who are going to be killed for the brutal crime of homelessness. Do you agree with that?
WHAT: The Kitten Rescue Fur Ball at the Skirball is an annual fundraiser dinner held to support Kitten Rescue’s programs and the Kitten Rescue Homeless Cat Sanctuary. And of course, a post about Kitten Rescue wouldn’t be complete without a little cuteness!
Homeless Pets Need More Help Than Ever Before. Each Rescues & Runways fashion show will feature models from each community walking the runway with the latest fall looks from maurices, along with a pet, of course, that is available for adoption. maurices Launches National Rescues & Runways Campaign to Help. Duluth, Minn.
FiXiT is dedicated to coming up with solutions to reduce the number of homeless animals by helping people get their animals get spayed/neutered. Over the course of the Spay Day week, February 24 – 28, sponsors will be able to contribute as little as $10 to the cost their choice of featured animals.
In some sense, of course, many (perhaps most) humans don't know right from wrong. And perhaps my favorite: "[I]f healthy, homeless humans were rounded up and killed, no one would call the killing facilities 'shelters'" (55). Smoke, eat, and drink themselves to death? Poison the water, soil, and air on which they rely?
5/1 The scandal of the ‘welfare hotels’ [in New York] where the city places homeless families has been simmering for many weeks. The concept of "a state of well-being" is of course vague enough to be interpreted as "bigger cages" if one were so inclined (and benefited from cages). 1946 205 Mr Lewis [sc. a trade-union leader].refused
Of course, in retrospect, it is easy to understand why. While it is laudable to point out the plight of homeless woodpeckers, this is hardly the right subject for an upbeat bird photo contest. Come join me in mockery – let us look at my very own Salon des Refuses. Every bird photo should tell a story, not just show a bird.
Of course not; that's serious business. If all members of a family have agreed that adding a cat or dog to the family (through adoption, of course) is a good and timely idea, and everyone agrees about responsibilities regarding the care of the animal, having the timing of the adoption coincide with a birthday or holiday isn't a problem.
I received a call yesterday from a woman who started a coalition for homeless cats. The woman from the coalition knows and respects the vets at Pahokee, which of course isn't as good as my own vet being on the case, but I'm sure it'll all work out fine. This one's more like Good News for Mary Martin. Can you imagine?
Of course that also brings up the dilemma of feeding cats and fish, who are omnivores and actually need to eat some meat in order to be healthy. Is keeping animals because they're endangered any different from keeping them because they are homeless? . The analogy to mammals we rescue is interesting; it's a good point.
