Australian Dairy Farmers says calves can be left unfed for 30 hours before slaughter but the RSPCA says the practice is "cruel". ANIMAL rights groups have begun a campaign against the dairy industry's treatment of bobby calves. In " Cows Killed by Lightning Strike ," by Angie Brown of the BBC Scotland, which today was updated to "Lightning Strike Kills Bullocks," we learn that Mr. McDougal was "very upset," numb and shocked by "the carnage he saw." That carnage wasn't observed after the animals were slaughtered, but before he could get to slaughter them.

The problem with that statement is it's not as if farmers are searching "the wild" for cows, pigs, chicken and fish, plucking them from their homes, and plopping them on a farm to live out their (shortened) lives prior to slaughter. They are created to be slaughtered. The choice isn't the wild or the farm. Yes, that's true.

People in South Florida are still in an uproar over the mutilation and slaughter of 19 house cats (allegedly) by 18-year old Tyler Weinman, who was declared mentally competent and not a danger to himself or others (!). We don't say we hate cows. We don't say we hate pigs and want to see them writhing in pain and slaughtered.

That doesn't mean that 99% of dairy products are from family farms , as the average number of cows on each family farm is just over 100. Families, so the commercials go, don't engage in untoward aspects of animal husbandry that might hurt the cows. The cows' tails swing in the breeze.

The site says food production factories are included , but I doubt that means those involving the slaughter of animals.). Perhaps they are taught that other cultures eat animals other than cows, chickens, fish and pigs, I don't know. The kids made tortillas from scratch and then went to a factory to see how professionals do it.

The conclusion I'm left making is that the person saying "Because it tastes good" thinks that it's funny that a sentient being was raped (in the case of cows), mutilated (chickens, pigs and others) and slaughtered (everyone) because people find them tasty.

Since the male offspring of dairy cows don't produce milk, they are sold to veal farms, where they are permanently confined in veal crates that prevent them from moving or turning around. I replaced cow's milk with soy milk. These birds are some of the most abused animals in agriculture.
