The media and society is vilifying Michael Vick (rightly I believe.) Like Vick, most of us shamelessly abuse and kill animals. Americans systematically exploit and kill animals - sometimes for scientific progress; sometimes for leather jackets, ham sandwiches, or horse-racing.

Looks like BET will have a new reality show based around Michael Vick. Sorry, but I think someone who kills dogs like he did can't just change. That kind of lack of compassion and cruelty is just too cold blooded. Tags: Michael Vick. He'll get paid to tell everyone what a wonderful person he is.

Imprisoned NFL star Michael Vick will be allowed to finish his sentence under home confinement because there is no room at a halfway house for him, a government official told The Associated Press Thursday. Vick is serving a 23-month sentence at the federal penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kan., He is eligible for release in July.

Michael Vick, whose unearthed gambling operation was found to not only force dogs to fight, but also kill under-performing dogs in twisted ways, is only one story in a mass of untold stories. The Michael Vick case shed light on the disgrace of those who cause dogs to fight each other, an event often accompanied by drug sales and prostitution. Thanks to Adrian Seeley for calling to my attention this story about PGA Tour golfer Tripp Isenhour, who allegedly intentionally killed a red-shouldered hawk with a golf shot. Isenhour is charged with cruelty to animals and killing a migratory bird. As a society, we should not tolerate such wanton acts of cruelty.
