I flew into Denver from Mexico. What is 100% true is the flight number I took into Denver: 420. In the spirit of Denver 420 we were so mellow and chill that we cried but a single tear. My hosts could confidently tick off the species on their life list. Good thing: I was given priority boarding. Of course, I made that up.
Most of the lifers I saw in Denver were named after (in)famous people, so Messrs. And then I saw the species names attached to the aforementioned gentlemen’s avian namesakes and gave up… So, my attempt at political correctness has been thwarted by the 18th century rules of taxonomy. eBird shows the possibility of 152 species.
